Why the Biggest Loser Strategy Works

When I first saw the Biggest Loser show, I doubted these contestants would their weight and become slim, but they did. Those who did not win came back home with a huge smile; they had lost a significant amount of weight and were proud of it. So I wondered why the Biggest Loser strategy works.

What we all see on the TV is only a fraction of what happens on the ranch. The careful monitoring of the calorie intake, the workouts, the advice of the experts and the support of the team members; all these inspire the contestants to lose their weight and believe in themselves that they can do it. In fact Kae Whang, one of the contestants of the show lost 20 pounds in a week; something most of us would plan to do in more than a month.

These contestants work on simple strategies to not just to lose weight and maintain it when they go home. Some of the strategies include:

  1. Make a plan: when you start weight loss plan when you would exercise and what you should eat and what you would avoid. Planning would help you to achieve smaller goals, which would eventually lead to your bigger goal.
  2. Do not starve yourself: The trainers on the stress on eating several small meals throughout the day. These meals are high on fiber and nutrition and should have a low fat content.
  3. Make an exercise regimen: The trainers stress on a cardio workout that should be done twice a day.
  4. Involve your family and friends: If you involve your family or friends in your workout, you enjoy them and chances are that you will keep motivated for a longer time.
  5. Do not give up: Although you may face several challenges and become tempted to give up, you have to inspire yourself to keep going and continue your efforts to keep yourself fit.

Hence the biggest loser diet and the biggest loser workout become effective only if you keep going and resolve not to give up easily. This is what the contestants take back when they go home and this helps them to keep fit.
